Exercise: Render Glass, Liquid & Caustic

I might be working on a job that require to render glass, liquid & caustic. Therefore, this is an on-going post and show how i'm going to do a series of glass, liquid @ caustic test renders in mental ray.


Test Render_01 Glass & Caustic

Lighting Pass:


Framesize: PAL D1/DV 720px X 576px
FG Map Render Time: 12mins 35sec
Final Render: 8mins 27sec
(should be able to cut down the rendertime to 4mins on a QuadCore machine)
AA Setting: Min1 Max16 Michell
Render Technique: HDRI + FG + AO
Initial FG Point Density : 2.5
Ray per FG Point: 2000
Interpolate Over Num.FG Points: 60
Ambient Occlusion Samples: 64


Final Render with Caustic:

Framesize: PAL D1/DV 720px X 576px
FG Map Render Time: ---- (cheat, used back the same FG map from the white render)
Final Render: 8mins 36sec (cheat, used back the same FG map from the white render)
(should be able to cut down the rendertime to 4mins on a QuadCore machine)
AA Setting: Min1 Max16 Michell
Render Technique: HDRI + FG (No ambient Occlusion)
Photon Count for Caustic Map: 1,500,000


Final Render for Glass, Liquid, Caustic
Render time: 13 mins 57 sec
Render Technique: HDRI + FG + Caustic + Glare


Glass Studio Render + Bokeh
